Fresh off a maiden win at Armidale on December 7, the Troy O’Neile-trained Think Pi will be chasing back-to-back victories at the North West racecourse.

When winning at Armidale, Aaron Bullock was in the saddle as the 4YO So You Think gelding powered to victory in the Super Maiden Plate (1100m).

Out of Pumpkin Pie, who was a very handy galloper for Danny Williams, Think Pi boasts a beautiful pedigree and is raced by June Baker.

O’Neile has previously alluded to Think Pi being a bit above average, and he finds a nice race today when contesting the Country Boosted Class One Handicap (1300m).

There’s good form around the Tamworth galloper too, after he defeated It’s A Written last time out, which went on to win at Inverell on New Year’s Day.

The extra furlong at Armidale will suit, and Ben Looker takes the ride for connections.

On what could be a good day for the Tamworth stable, O’Neile has recent Quirindi winner Steel Claws contesting the 1400 m Class Two Handicap.

Jenny Duggan takes the ride, and the 5YO Real Steel gelding has drawn favourably with gate one.

Rounding out the team’s chances at Armidale is Albert’s Pick in the Country Boosted Maiden Handicap (1300m).

Chelsea Hillier has been booked for the ride, and the 3YO D’Argento filly has drawn nicely with gate two in the small six-horse field.

Albert’s Pick hasn’t been too far away this preparation and drops back in distance for this event, which kicks off the Armidale program at 2.25pm.
