Troy O’Neile and Angel Brennan continued their good season late last week, landing wins at Tamworth on Friday and Warialda on Saturday.
The pair combined for victory on their home track as Hinto stormed to an eye-catching win in the $50,000 Super Maiden Handicap over the 1200m journey.
Demonstrating cutthroat tactics, Brennan wasn’t afraid to go forward on the 3YO Redente gelding, taking on fellow speedster Not So Wrong (Juliet Partridge) from the Holly Williams yard.
The duo led the remainder of the field by some five lengths on the turn before Hinto powered to a 1.33-length victory from Not So Wrong.
O’Neile almost landed a Tamworth double later on the program, with Braith Nock riding Reprisal to second in the 1000m Benchmark 58 Handicap, going down by the barest of margins to the Craig Martin-trained Nirmata, coincidentally ridden by Angel Brennan.
The 5YO Trapeze Artist gelding, who boasts Victorian metropolitan form early in his career, found the line strongly and looks set for a big preparation with his Tamworth trainer.
The following day, O’Neile took just one runner to Warialda, and it was Brennan in the saddle as Emerald Invasion found the front and kept on kicking to win the 1400m Maiden Handicap.
It was a tough victory as the 5YO Invader gelding was under pressure from the jump, but kept kicking for connections.
O’Neile continues to strike gold in the state’s North West, landing ten winners from his past 46 runners.
