Big team set for Tamworth meeting

Troy O’Neile and connections will appreciate a return to racing at Tamworth on Saturday following a plethora of abandonments due to the recent wet weather.

On his home track, O’Neile will have up to five runners going around, teaming up with Angel Brennan and Jenny Duggan on what will be a busy day for the team.

Kicking off the team’s chances will be Territory Dreamer (Angel Brennan) in the Maiden Plate (1200m).

The 4YO Territories gelding had three starts first time in and resumes here following a decent spell.

A tough draw (gate 18) doesn’t help, but he’ll improve on the run.

Albert’s Pick (Jenny Duggan) has been knocking on the door all throughout her career and takes on the Maiden Plate (1400m).

The 3YO D’Agento filly is primed third-up at Tamworth but has drawn wide with gate 11 and will need a touch of luck from the tricky draw.

Ropewalker (Jenny Duggan) has drawn well with gate two in the Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) and looks a big chance.

The 4YO Trapeze Arist gelding caught the eye two starts back when finishing third at Armidale over 1400m, and a repeat effort would see him hard to beat at Tamworth.

The only concern will be the big weight (60.5kg) in heavy conditions.

Hinto (Jenny Duggan), who boasts some wet track form, is a very capable type and gets every chance in the Class One Handicap (1400m).

An impressive winner at Tamworth three starts back, the 3YO Redente gelding will appreciate being back on his home track despite drawing awkwardly with gate 11.

Rounding out the stable’s big day will be Emerald Invasion (Angel Brennan) in the Benchmark 50 Handicap (1200m).

The 5YO Invader gelding, who won at Warialda in early April, has since run a good second in a 1400m Class One Handicap at Armidale on April 25.

This looks like a suitable event, but with the theme of the day being wide draws, the outside barrier (10) isn’t ideal.
